What’s proposed
The proposed development will consist of: the deepening of the existing permitted limestone, sand and gravel quarry by 20 metres (i.e. 1 no. extractive bench), which will extend the existing quarry below the water table level and extend the life of the quarry by approximately 15 no. years; the provision of an infiltration pond system for managing the groundwater generated (including 1 no. attenuation pond, 2 no. settlement lagoons, and 1 no. infiltration pond, together with maintenance access road and perimeter fencing); a westward realignment and widening of the existing private access road adjoining the site with new entrance onto the east-west public road to the north (LP3619-0); the existing private road access point to public road (LP3619-0) to be revised to provide private entrance to public road for lands adjacent to residential property adjoining the road; the waiving of Condition No.2 of An Bord Pleanala Ref. The proposed development will utilize the existing on-site haul road from the site entrance adjacent to the asphalt plant and proceed one-way around the south/west of the lagoon to a proposed two-way haulage ramp, which will extend from the southern boundary of the proposed extractive area. Traffic is proposed to exit from here one-way via the north east of the lagoon towards the site exit. The proposed development will also include landscaping, reduced screening berms to a minimum of 5 metres high at the northern boundary and all other site development works above and below ground, including a new restoration plan for the final quarry void
