What’s proposed

Alterations to the existing motor sales building comprising the demolition of 37sq.m. floor area; construction of 23sq.m. new floor area and retention of an existing 19sq.m. store on the north of the building. These alterations result in a building with a total gross floor area of 2,299sq.m. (this represents a net reduction of 14sq.m. in the gross floor area of the existing motor sales building). The development will also consist of the demolition of an existing stand alone 74sq.m. valet building and the provision of a new 190sq.m. stand alone car wash and valeting building. Planning permission also sought for alterations to the facades of the existing motor sales building; retention of the existing 0.548m high steel boundary treatment located on the northern, southern and western boundaries and the proposed provision and continuation of this barrier along the eastern boundary; retention of existing 2 no. sliding gates to the northern boundary of the site (0.548m high by 9.43m wide and 0.548m high by 6.66m wide, respectively); a new 3.2m high (4.9m wide by 29.92m in length) polyester-fabric finished white canopy over proposed commercial car display area; amendments to the existing external surface car parking arrangement (comprising customer parking, staff parking, used car display, new and demonstration car display and workshop parking, including the removal of an unused raised display area) resulting in an increase of 4 no. display car parking spaces from 160 no. existing; 2 no. internally illuminated double sided free standing pylon signs, 3 no. directional signs, two of which are double sided) and associated elevational signage to the existing motor sales building (the lettering of the proposed 'Frank Keane' signs and the proposed corporate 'VW' signs are internally illuminated); associated lighting; and all other associated site excavation and site development works above and below ground; apart from the demolition, additions and amendments referenced above, the internal reconfiguration of the building will be carried out as exempted development
