Ref. 17/814) to connect the wind farm to the national grid at the existing Arklow 220kV ESB Station, County Wicklow, the proposed grid connection will be installed within existing private tracks and public roadway and include, provision of joint bays, draw pits, communication chambers, three phase electrical cables, optical fibre cables and cable sheath sectionalising chambers, water and rail crossings by (i) bridge crossings, (ii) horizontal directional drilling and iii) guided auger bore, limited ancillary forestry felling to facilitate construction and operation of the proposed development, reinstatement of land, road and track surface above the proposed cabling trench, all associated ancillary works. An Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and Natura Impact Statement (NIS) have been prepared in respect of the proposed development and will be submitted with the application. This development is covered by the provisions of the Renewable Energy Directive III (Directive (EU)2023/2413) and it is important to note that the planning application may be subject to section 34D of the Planning and Development Act, as amended, When a notice issues in accordence with section 34D(b), the provisions of article 26A of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 to 2025 shall apply

Minor amendments are also proposed to reg. Ref. 23/756 to accommodate alterations to Kilbride Road L6179, upgrades to pedestrian facilities and to allow for connection to the permitted water services and pedestrian links. The development will also provide for landscaping, car and cycle parking, public open spaces and all associated site development works to enable the development including boundary treatments, attenuation storage area, temporary pumping station, and other service provision including ESB substation
- The townlands of Coolboy Killinskyduff and Kilbride , Co. Wicklow N/aredevelopment of the existing Arklow 220kV / 110kV substation. The proposed development will take place at the existing substation site and adjacent undeveloped lands, in the townlands of Coolboy, Killinskyduff and Kilbride, Co. Wicklow. The Proposed Development will consist of: The addition of a retaining wall of approximately 130 m in length on the western side of the proposed substation redevelopment area; and site earthworks to construct a finished surface level of the site to 34 mOD (meters above Ordnance Datum); construction of a new 220 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) building (71.2 m long, 22.2 m wide, 21.6 m in height) (approximately 1,580 sqm); construction of a new 110 kV GIS building (63.9 m long, 15.9 m wide, 16.5 m in height) (approximately 1,016 sqm); both of the GIS Buildings will have lightning protection spikes / rods on each of the roofs (8 no. on the 220 kV GIS building and 10 no. on the 110 kV GIS building) (each 2.5 m in height);construction of 4 no. 220 kV / 110 kV power transformers, and associated fire walls, and connections to the new GIS buildings; erection of 3 no. lightning masts (height 18.7 m), located adjacent to the 220 kV / 110 kV power transformers, and 3 no. lightning protection spikes / rods associated with the gantry towers located northwest of the proposed 220 kV GIS building (total height of gantry tower and protection spikes / rods 15.0 m); erection of 1 no. 110 kV and 2 no. 38 kV line / cable interface steel lattice towers located to the south of the proposed substation redevelopment area and associated overhead line and cable works; replacement of 1 no. existing 110 kV poleset in the Kilbride Industrial Estate (southwest of the L2180 local road) with 1 no. 110 kV steel lattice tension tower; and replacement of 2 no. 38 kV polesets (northeast of the L2180 local road) with 2 no. 38 kV steel lattice tension towers; rerouting of 220 kV and 110 kV overhead lines to facilitate the proposed development; cable connections to the 220 kV GIS and 110 kV GIS buildings; new 4.5 m wide internal access road and 14 no. new permanent car parking spaces; associated site excavation, infrastructural and site development works; above and below ground boundary treatment and landscaping including property gates.property fencing (1.4?m height), internal security gate, security fencing (2.6?m height), lighting, surface water drainage, surface water attenuation pond and foul water t
